Deepa Kumar is an Associate Professor of Media Studies at Rutgers University. She is the author of Outside the Box: Corporate Media, Globalization and the UPS Strike and Islamophobia and the Politics of Empire. Kumar is currently working on a third book on the cultural politics of the War on Terror. She has published dozens of articles in scholarly journals as well as independent media. She has also shared her expertise on Islamophobia, the Arab uprisings, women and Islam as well as related topics on the BBC, NPR, USA Today, Philadelphia Inquirer, Hurriyat Daily News (Turkey), Al Jazeera and other national and international news media outlets.
